Biography:
Paul Straney was a regular member of Northern Ireland's schools and youth squads prior to moving to Stoke City prior to his eighteenth birthday. Although he never made the first team while in hthe Potteries he remained in the thoughts of the Irish FA staff and was an unused substitute for the B international side as they faced England in May 1994. The following season he returned to the Irish League with Glenavon, but it was with Cliftonville, where he spent five seasons and played 179 matches that he is best known, with a League Cup win in 2003 the highlight.

Straney later acted as Cliftonville's goalkeeping coach during their successes under Tommy Breslin and at the time of his premature death was assistant manager at Kilmore Rec.
